John Thomas Flynn Sr.

John Thomas Flynn, Sr., age 94, of Elkin passed away peacefully on Friday, June 7, 2024, at Hospice of Dobson.

A funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Monday, June 10, 2024, at Beulah United Church of Christ officiated by Rev. Rodney Merrill. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

A visitation with family and friends will be held on June 9, 2024, from 4pm until 6pm at Davidson Funeral Home Lexington Chapel.

John was born on June 28, 1929, in Yadkin County, NC to Harrison Monroe Flynn and Fannie Rebecca Gill Flynn.  He retired as a heating and air specialist from Frank X and was a member of Beulah United Church of Christ.  In his free time, John enjoyed gardening and farming. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Ruby Hedrick Flynn; son, John Thomas Flynn, Jr.; brothers, Luther, CD and Arvil Flynn and sisters, Sadie Marie Murphy and Bessie Adams, grandson, Ian Durham.

Surviving are his son, Johnny Flynn (Debi) of Arcadia; daughters, Rebecca Wilmoth (Doug) of Elkin, Betty Jean Hill (Terry) of Lexington; 9 grandchildren, Karmen Flynn, Heather Flynn, Jessica Saulpaugh, Allison Flynn, Jonathan Staley, Christian Staley, Nicholas Staley, Patrick Durham, Dustin Wilmoth, Devin Wilmoth; and 7 great-grandchildren, Flynn Saulpaugh, Charlie Jean Saulpaugh, Jaydin Rubio, Zoey Rubio, Macie Rubio, Emma Rubio and Madelynn Wilmoth.
