John David Hartman

April 8, 1925 — January 17, 2006

ARCADIA | John David "J.D." Hartman, 80, of Payne Road, died at his home Monday, Jan. 17, 2006. A celebration of life will be held tonight at 7 at Faith Missionary Alliance Church, where he was a charter member, by pastors Michael Gates and Albert Smith. Mr. Hartman was born April 8, 1925, in Davidson County to David Lindsey Hartman and Sarah Masten Hartman. He retired as a machinist from The Lucia Co. His parents and a brother, Roy Hartman, and a sister, Martha Beck, preceded him in death. Surviving are his wife, Zora Nifong Hartman of the home; one son, Jim Hartman of Eller Road; two daughters, Shannon Fansler and her husband, Rodney, of Gumtree Road and Wanda Foster and her husband, Terry, of Hendersonville, Tenn.; two grandsons, Kale Hartman and his wife, Kathy, of High Point and Preston Fansler of Gumtree Road; one granddaughter, Madeline Fansler of Raleigh; one great-grandson, Ethan Hartman of Raleigh; and one brother, Eugene Hartman and his wife, Jo of Reedy Creek. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. prior to the service and also after the service and other times at the home. Memorials may be made to the building fund of Faith Missionary Alliance Church, 1077 Gumtree Road, Winston Salem, N.C. 27107 or to the donor's choice. Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel, is serving the Hartman family.
