John "Johnny" Edwin King

December 28, 1925 — July 30, 2015

John “Johnny” Edwin King, 89, of NC Highway 47, died Thursday, July 30, 2015, at Alston Brook. The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday, August 2, at Beck’s Reformed Church with the Rev. James Byers officiating. Burial with military graveside rites by Davidson County Honor Guard will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, August 1, 2015, and other times at the home of his daughter, 1997 NC Highway 47. Mr. King was born in Fall City, Ne., to John William King and Ida Lippold King. He served in the U.S. Army and later retired from Burlington Industries where he had been a Supervisor for many years. Mr. King was a charter member of Central Volunteer Fire Department, Lexington Men of Song, and a member of VFW Post 3074, Amvets Post 13, American Legion Post 8, he was also a member of the Honor Guard and served as Chaplain. Mr. King was involved in the Central Davidson School advisory council for several years. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brother, Dale William King; and sisters, Betty Chestnut, Doris Hopp and Grace Ford. Surviving are his loving wife of 69 years, Elizabeth Maxine Parks King of the home; son, Edwin King and wife Joni of Lexington; daughters, Jennifer Firquin and husband Kevin, and Jane Ogletree and husband Bill of Clermont, Ga., six grandchildren, Seth Firquin and Sarah, Sarah King, Greg Gray and Paulette, Lori Gray, Jason Hale and Tasha, and Jacob Hale and Tabitha; three great-grandchildren, Tyler Hale, Cooper Hale and Cannon Hale; brother, James R. King and wife Margaret of Brooksville, Fl.; and sister-in-law, Val Jean Parks of Charlotte. Memorials may be made to Becks Reformed Church, 2845 Beck’s Church Road, Lexington, NC 27292.
