John "Rabbit" Lloyd Walser

John “Rabbit” Lloyd Walser Jr., 76 of Highway 64 West, Lexington, died Sunday morning at his home. Mr. Walser was born January 3, 1931 in Davie County to John Lloyd Walser Sr. and Mittie Lucille Rummage Walser. He was a retired bulk delivery driver for Carolane Propane. Mr. Walser was a veteran of the US Army having served in the Korean Conflict, and the North Carolina National Guard unit in Thomasville. He was a member of VFW Post 3074, Amvets Post 13, and was a past commander of American Legion Post 13. He was preceded in death by an infant brother Jackie Lynn Walser. Surviving are his wife Shirley C. Walser of the home; two daughters Vonda Barnes and husband Robin of Southmont, and Lisa Shoaf and husband Bryan of Lexington; a brother Aubrey Franklin Walser and wife Priscilla of Lexington; two sisters, Colleen Curry and husband Don of Lexington, and Dorcas Seaford of Advance; three step-brothers Danny Kirkus and wife Carolyn, Jimmy Kirkus and wife Alline, and Gary Kirkus and wife Francis, all of Southmont; and a step-sister Doncilla Perry of Southmont. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Jared Humphrey, Adam Humphrey, Julie Humphrey, Elliott Barnes, Kylie Beth Barnes, Sara Shoaf, and John Shoaf; and one great-granddaughter, Kirsten Humphrey. The funeral service will be at 11:00 am Tuesday at Fork Baptist Church where he was a member, with Rev. Craig Seaford and Rev. Robert Garrett officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military graveside rites by the VFW Post 3074. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm tonight at Davidson Funeral Home in Lexington, and at other times at the home.
