John Rawlings

March 1, 1929 — March 28, 2022

John Blake Rawlings, 93, of Lexington passed away on Monday, March 28, 2022, at Atrium Health, Lexington Medical Center.

A celebration of life service will be held at 3 pm on Monday, April 4, 2022, at First Presbyterian Church in Lexington with the Rev. Dr. Nancy Jo Dederer officiating.

The family will receive friends following the service in the Church Fellowship Hall.

Mr. Rawlings was born in Wayne County, MI, on March 1, 1929, to Clayton Heber Rawlings and Vera Jane Mills Rawlings. He was a retired plant manager, having worked for Dupont and was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Lexington, where he was a devoted member of the Church Choir. Mr. Rawlings was a US Army veteran, having served in the Korean War, and was a graduate of the University of Michigan. He was a loving father, and grandfather whose memory will be cherished forevermore. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dicksie Dillion Rawlings.

Left to cherish his memory, are his loving daughter, Carol Anne Fortune and husband Travis of Lexington; his two sons, Clayton Rawlings and wife Deanna of Houston, TX and James Rawlings and wife Cheryl of Santa Barbara, CA; a brother, Douglas Rawlings of Hendersonville; nine grandchildren, Jamie Carmeli, Logan Rawlings, Sarah Ramirez, Rachel Rawlings, Brandon Craven, Melanie Rawlings, Blake Rawlings, Matthew Fortune and Richard Fortune; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be directed to the First Presbyterian Church – Choir Fund at 15 W. 3 rd Ave., Lexington, NC 27292.
