John Snellings, age 86 of Carl Pressley Road, Lexington passed away Tuesday morning at Hinkle Hospice House.
There will be no visitation or service at this time.
John was born in Davidson County, May 7, 1927 to Henry Paul Snellings and Etta Money Snellings. John was educated in Lexington City Schools, Shelby City Schools and Davidson County Community College. John was a former employee of Duracell Battery Company; he served in the United States Navy. At St. Luke’s Lutheran Church where he served as Councilman, Treasurer of the Sunday School, Sunday School Teacher and Youth Counselor. Before becoming an independent, John was active in the Republican Party, serving as a Precinct Judge for Tyro. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jim Dozier Snellings (his twin brother), William Paul “Buck” Snellings; sister-in-law, Ethel Lanier Snellings on January 9, 2014; nephews, William Scott Snellings and Dennis Ronald Smith and a niece, Linda Smith Allen Davis.
Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Hattie Lanier Snellings; sister, Geraldine (Gerry) Snellings Smith (Ron) of Lexington; nieces, Paula Snellings McDaniel (Larry), Jo Snellings Hall (Donald) of Lexington, Renee Snellings Prevette (Rick) of Clemmons; nephew, Tracy Samuel Snellings of Greensboro; sister-in-law, Anna Everhart Snellings of Welcome.
