John Robert Stirewalt

John Robert Stirewalt, 72, of Central Heights, died unexpectedly Sunday, January 24, 2010, at his home. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday, January 28, 2010, at Second Reformed United Church of Christ, where he was a member, with the Rev. Joe Coltrane officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, January 27, 2010, at Davidson Funeral Home. Mr. Stirewalt was born April 6, 1937, in Rowan County, to Lamonte A. Stirewalt and Pauline E. Wallace Stirewalt. He was a retired accountant with Dixon and Odom and served in the U.S. Air Force. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Tussey Stirewalt; and his sister, Peg. Surviving are a son, Derek Stirewalt and his wife, Elizabeth Phelan, of Seattle, Wa.; sister-in-law, Nancy Everhart of Lexington; two close nephews, Tim Everhart of Charlotte and Jeff Everhart, of Lexington; and his extended family, Michael Allen and Peggy Allen, Peggy Lynn McNeil, and her daughter, Nikki McNeil, all of Lexington.
