John Christopher Swicegood, 29, of Helmstetler Road in Lexington, passed away Wednesday January 28th at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem.
A celebration of his life will be 1 p.m. Saturday, January 31, 2015, at Christian Baptist Church, with the Rev. Sam Harvey officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the home of his aunt and uncle, Don and Pansy Rummage. A special service for the family will also be held in Sylva during the month of June.
Chris was born January 14, 1986, in Jackson County, to Dale and Karen Swicegood. He was a 2004 graduate of West Davidson High School, formerly employed at Sam’s Car Wash and was an avid fan of the Carolina Panthers. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Sylva and attended Christian Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, CJ and LucyMae Harris, and Junie and Annie Swicegood; and uncle, Steve Swicegood.
Surviving in addition to his parents of the home are aunts and uncles, Don and Pansy Rummage, George and Martha Harris, Jay and Dianne Harris, and Ginger Stockton; great-aunt, Lenora Jackson; cousins, Marty and Angelia Rummage, Dusty Rummage, Steve Swicegood, Wendy Swicegood, and Gene Harris; and special cousin, a friend who would stick closer than a brother, Joshua Rummage.
