John Thomas Thacker, age 91 of Carolina House, formerly of Winston Salem passed away Tuesday morning at Lexington Medical Center.
A graveside service will be held 2:00 pm Friday at Crestview Memorial Park in Rural Hall with Dr. Ray Howell, 3rd officiating. Burial will follow. There will not be a public visitation.
John was born in Forsyth County February 18, 1923 to Howard Alva and Ghita Snider Thacker. He was a member of Forest Hill Baptist Church in Winston Salem and for the past 3 years attended First Baptist Church in Lexington. He was a retired employee of Burns Aerospace Corp; a veteran of the US Navy having served for his country during World War II; a World War II Memorial Honoree and a member of American Legion Post 8. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Grace Ussery Thacker.
Surviving are his daughter, Renee T. Johnson (Herman) of Waxhaw; son, John T. Thacker, Jr. (Myra) of Lexington; grandchildren, Eryn Myers (Jon), Laura Quarino (Joe), Nathan Johnson and John T. (Jay) Thacker, III ; great-grandchildren, Grace Myers, Joseph Quarino and Wade Myers; sisters, Mary T. Carter of Lexington and Mildred T. Ingram of Rural Hall.
