John (Johnnie) Anderson Thompson, 93, passed away at Hinkle Hospice Home on Sunday, April 6, 2014.
A celebration of life for Johnnie will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at Fairmont Presbyterian Church with Rev. J. Randy Hall.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Johnnie was born May 5, 1920 in Randolph County to John Anderson Thompson Sr. and Myrtle Lanier Thompson. He served in the United States Army during WWII, serving in Germany & France. He was a member and former deacon of Fairmont Presbyterian Church, VFW and Woodman of the World. He was also the co-owner of Tyro Masonry and a great fan of the Carolina Panthers, UNC and Nascar. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Walter Thompson.
Surviving are his loving wife of 70 years, Marie Everhart Thompson of the home, sons, Gary L. Thompson (Belinda) of Lexington and Randy C. Thompson (Donna) of Apex, NC; grandchildren, Ginger Thompson, Kimberly Smith and Dr. Matthew Thompson; and his great-grandchild, Madison Smith.
