John Luther Williams, Sr.

January 19, 1944 — May 2, 2021

John Luther Williams, Sr., age 77 of Dorsett Road in Lexington, passed away on Sunday, May 2, 2021 at his home.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, May 5 th at Lexington Pentecostal Church of the Living God with Pastor Waldo Hammons and Larry Miller officiating.  Burial will follow at New Friendship United Church of Christ.  The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church.  All Covid related precautions and restrictions will be practiced.

John was born on January 19, 1944 in Rowan County to Dewey Edward Williams and Rosa Viola Potts Miller.  He retired from Thomasville Furniture and attended Lexington Pentecostal Church of the Living God, a place he loved and enjoyed spending time with his church family.  Fishing was also a hobby that brought him happiness.  He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, James Williams and sisters, Mammie Beam, Brenda Ross and Argie Lee Williams.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Effie Louya Williams, of the home; son, John Williams, Jr. (Lisa) of Lexington; daughters, Donna Miller (Robert) and Sherri Norris (Jeffrey) both of Lexington, Tammy Williams of Denton; brother, Lindsey Ray Williams (Ellie) of Lexington; sisters, Evelyn Wood of Lexington and Margaret Kreener (Rick); 15 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
