John Willis

Mr. John Carlton Willis, Jr, 80, of Ponders Creek Dr, died Friday, December 15 at the NC Veterans Home in Salisbury. A memorial service will be held at 2pm Thursday, December 28 at Jersey Baptist Church, where he was a member. Inurnment with military rites will follow in the church columbarium. The family will receive friends following the service. Mr. Willis was born October 20, 1943 in Robeson County to John Carlton Willis and Mary McLarty Willis. He proudly served his country in US Navy and later worked in insurance sales and for Davidson County Schools. His wife, Phyllis Penninger Willis, preceded him in death. He is survived by his sons Charlie Willis (Lori) of Lexington, and Carl Willis (Melissa) of Martinez, Ga.; daughter Amy McLamb (Dan) of Efland, NC; and his grandchildren Mattie Paige Willis, Juliana Willis, Luke Willis, Kate Willis, Ella Willis, Tess McLamb, and Phillip McLamb.
