John Turner Younts Jr., 80, of Bowers Road, died Monday, July 14, 2008, at Brian Center of Lexington.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at New Friendship United Church of Christ, where he was a member, by the Revs. Sarah Snell and James Messer. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park.
Mr. Younts was born March 10, 1928, in Davidson County to John Turner Younts Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Leonard Younts. He was a loader for Cletus Swing Construction. He was a "True" Democrat and Carolina fan. Mr. Younts was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Frances Grubb Younts, who died Dec. 9, 2001; his brothers, Alfred Younts, Herman Younts, Everette Younts, Dallas Younts and Avery Younts; and his sisters, Lillian Ruth Everhart, Juanita Gourley and Martha Elizabeth Younts.
Surviving are his sons, John Daniel Younts of Lexington and Bobby Ellis Younts of the home; a daughter, Alice Marie Younts Hopkins of the home; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and his sisters, Mary Lee Younts Penninger and Sarah Younts Leonard. Also surviving is a sister-in-law, Zola Suratt Younts, of Lexington.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home of John Younts, 171 Yountz Road, Lexington.
