Mr John Reid Yountz, Jr., 85, of White Street, died Monday, October 29, at his home.

The family would like to give special thanks to Hospice staff for their loving care.

A funeral service will be held at 11 am Wednesday, October 31 at North Lexington Baptist Church with Rev. Gavin Pratt and Dr. Robert Floyd officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6-8 pm at Davidson Funeral Home in Lexington and other times at the home.

John was born in Davidson County on May 2, 1933 to John Reid Yountz, Sr and Stella Robertson Yountz who preceded him in death.  He was a retired fireman for the City of Lexington.  John was a United States Army veteran and fought in the Korean Conflict.  He was a member of VFW Post 3074.  He was a member of North Lexington Baptist Church.  A stepdaughter, Vanessa Wolfe, also preceded him in death.

Surviving is his loving wife, Louise Lane Yountz, of the home; sons, Robert Wayne Yountz of Lexington, Charles Steven Yountz (Tena) of Lexington, stepson, Dean Greeson, Jr (Kathy) of Pleasant Garden; daughers, Faye Alexander (Billy) of Lexington, Janet Leigh Link (Bill) of Lexington, Renee Penland (James) of Lexington, Robin Jones of Julian, Paula Monnett (Stephen) of Greensboro; brother, Charles Franklin (Vickie) of Lexington; sisters, Nancy Simmerson (Kenneth) of Lexington and Evelyn Holt of Gastonia; 18 grandchildren and numerous great and great-great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292.
