Johnnie Mack Varner, 78, of Thomason Street, died Sunday, April 20, 2014, at Forsyth Medical Center.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday, April 24, 2014, at Davidson Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Joe Coltrane officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2014, at the funeral home and other times at the home.
Mr. Varner was born March 13, 1936, in Davidson County, to John Dowery Varner and Beulah Thomason Varner. He served in the U.S. Army; was retired foreman of the finishing department at Lexington Furniture and a member of Second Reformed United Church of Christ. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, Colden Dowery Varner; and sisters, Dorothy Graham and Audrey Quigley.
Surviving is his loving wife of 56 years, Marie Cooper Varner.
