Johnny Glenn Holder, 76, of Patricia Lane, died Wednesday, February 18, 2015, at his home, following an extended illness.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Friday, February 20, 2015, at Paul’s Chapel, where he was a member, with the Rev. Aaron Long and the Rev. Jimmy Norred officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service from 2 to 3 p.m.
Mr. Holder was born January 17, 1939, in Lee County, to Odis Holder and Mary Taylor Holder. He served in the U.S. Army and was a machinist at Miller Tool and Plating and was self employed before retiring. He was a member of the West Lexington Lions Club, American Legion Post 8, the NRA and enjoyed being a leader of the Cub Scouts and the Girl Scouts. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Lucy Moore.
Surviving are his loving wife Jean Hickman Holder of the home; daughters, Jackie Miller and husband David, and Glenda Beck and husband James, all of Lexington; grandchildren, Holly Miller Hampton and husband Bryan of Mocksville, Teresa Miller, Dava Miller, Savannah Phelps, and John Sutton, all of Lexington; great-grandchild, Noah Colton Hampton of Mocksville; brother, Jerry Holder and wife Rose of Cameron; and sisters, Linda Moore of Cameron and Jean Everette of Swan Station.
