Johnny Koontz

John Van Koontz, age 82, of Lexington passed away on Thursday, November 1, 2018 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston.   A funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, November 4, 2018 at Beulah United Church of Christ with the Rev. Trudy Irving Officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.   The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm prior to the service at the church.   Mr. Koontz was born in Davidson County on May 28, 1936 to Ona Lee Koontz and Mary Pickle Koontz. He attended Appalachian State University from where he obtained his master’s degree. Mr. Koontz was a retired school teacher, having worked for the Davidson County School System. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Davis Coble Koontz.   Surviving are his two sons, John Lee Koontz (Laura) and Reed Coble (Jennifer Beck); his daughter, Lia Glover (Hube) all of Lexington; and two grandchildren, Jake Glover and Faith Koontz.   Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Davidson County at 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292.
