Johnny Latham

Johnny Michael Latham, beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on Monday, October 28, 2024.

A Service of Remembrance will be held on Friday, November 1, 2024, at 2:00 PM in the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel in Lexington. The family will receive friends following the service.

Johnny was born and raised in Lexington, NC, son of the late Edgar Ray Latham, Jr. and Elsie Fleming Latham. He was a longtime resident of Swansboro and previously called Lexington his home. Johnny graduated from North Davidson Senior High in 1969. A dedicated public servant, Johnny was the retired Assistant Director of the Inspections Department of Davidson County, where he served from 1992 until his retirement in 2013. In his career, he was known for his commitment to his craft as a licensed plumber as well as holding a license in heating and air conditioning. Johnny was also a lifetime honorary member of the NCMIA and the NCPIA, a loyal member of the Lexington Moose Lodge (317), and a cherished member of Bethlehem Methodist Church in Bogue. He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Carolyn Crisp Latham; and his brother, James Raymond Latham.

Johnny leaves behind a family who loved him deeply, including his children, Julie Latham (Skeeter) and Clint Latham (ReBecca); his brother, June Latham; three sisters, Renee Ross (Phil), Joy Chandler (Rory), and Jamie Loman (Ronald); his sister-in-law, Eva Craver; and cousins he considered sisters, Jeanna Sowers and Jamela Everhart. He is also survived by his adored grandchildren, Alex Latham (Alyssa), Caden Latham, and Charleigh Kate Latham; great-grandchildren, Logan Whaley and Salem Ann Latham; his beloved neighbors, Felton and Deloris Jones; his special friends, Ricky and Angie Terry, and Allen and Judy Davis; and countless friends he considered family at Bogue Inlet Pier and Emerald Isle.

Johnny’s family extends heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and medical staff at Carteret Health and Carolina East for their care and compassion.

Johnny will be remembered for his loyalty, his warmth, and his devotion to family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know him.
