Johnny Lee Leonard 77 of Center Church Road, Lexington passed away Friday, February 1, 2013 at Forsyth Medical Center. A funeral service will be 12 Noon Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at Center United Methodist Church where he was a member. Rev. Dr. Stephen Pillsbury will conduct the service and burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Tuesday at Davidson Funeral Home Hickory Tree Chapel and at other times at the home. Johnny was born June 26, 1935 in Mecklenburg County and later adopted by Charlie Lee and Omie Byerly Leonard. He was retired from Bahnson Mechanical Systems, a member and teacher of the Friendship Class at church, served on the administrative board at his church, a youth counsler for the youth fellowship and was a board member of the Welcome Fire Dept. His parents preceded him in death. Surviving are his wife Betty Ann Swicegood Leonard of the home; his daughters, Johnsie Leonard Wallace and husband Charles, Marcia Leonard Craver and husband Steve all of Lexington; five grandchildren, Julie Craver Johnson and husband Skip of Charlotte, Ryan Lee Craver of Lexington, Fallon Wallace of Asheville, Porter Wallace and his twin Carli Wallace of Lexington; two great-grandchildren, Aiden Johnson and Elijah Johnson both of Charoltte. Memorials may be made to Alzheimers Association, 1315 Ashleybrook Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103 and Center United Methodist Church, Christian Fellowship Center, 186 Center Church Road, Lexington, NC 27295. Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel is assisting the family.
