Johnny Odell Lewis, 84 of Archdale Drive, Lexington, died Saturday February 2, 2008 in the High Point Regional Hospital. A funeral service will be Tuesday, February 5, 2008 at 2:00 pm at Davidson Funeral Home Lexington Chapel with Rev. Carl Linquist, Rev. Ronnie Gilmer and Rev. Scott Gilmer officiating. Burial will follow in the Lexington City Cemetery.
Mr. Lewis was born December 5, 1923 in Winnsboro, Fairfield County, South Carolina, to Joseph G. Lewis and Lizzie Frazier Lewis. He was retired from Community Cash Grocery and was a member of First Methodist United Church. He was a World War II veteran, where he served with the Army Medical Corp. Mr. Lewis was a past member of the American Legion Post #45 where he was past-post Commander and past Financial Officer. He was a current member of American Legion Post #8. Preceding him in death was two brothers, Edgar Lewis and Ike Lewis.
Surviving is his wife Vavaneen Huggins Lewis of the home, one daughter, Judy Hench and husband John, one grandson, Chad Hench and wife Donna and two great-grandchildren, Jonathan and Emily, one sister Bertie Mae Golightly, as well as many loved nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Tuesday February 5, 2008, from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home on Archdale Drive.
