A funeral will be held on Friday, October 25, 2024, at 11:00 AM, at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, with Christopher Metze officiating.
Burial will immediately follow the service at Sandy Creek Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM, Thursday, October 24, 2024, at the funeral home.
Jonathan was born on July 30, 1983, in West Virginia, to Jacqueline Short Atkins and Billy Shockley.
He loved hunting and carp fishing, enjoyed tubing especially around the fourth of July, and was a known movie buff. One of his favorite activities was riding his Harley and he was on it every chance he had.
Those who were in his circle remember him as someone who was genuine, loyal, and fiercely protective of his family and friends. One knew where they stood with Jonathan, and it was a true blessing to be a part of his family.
Preceding him in death was his dad, Billy Shockley.
Left to carry on his legacy is the love of his life and wife, Lisa Short, of the home; mother, Jacqueline Atkins (Jimmy Potts); son, Cody Short; stepson, Rylin Wolfe; sisters, Kayla Potts Johnson and Tasha Palmer; sister-in-law, Jamie Hunt (Anthony); father-in-law and mother-in-law, James and Sherry Kimbrell; cousin, Joey Asbury; nephew, Curtis Waddell; best friend, Kristopher Danik; and a much anticipated grandson on the way.
His memory will live on within the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
