Joseph Ross “Buddy” Bovender Jr., age 75 of Winston Salem passed away Friday, August 18, 2023, at Trellis Supportive Care. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 25, 2023, at 11:00 am at Davidson Funeral Home Hickory Tree Chapel conducted by Rev. Tim Wolfe. A burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will see friends from 6-8 pm Thursday, August 24, 2023, at Davidson Funeral Home Hickory Tree Chapel.
Buddy was born March 22, 1948, in Forsyth County to the late Joseph Ross Bovender Sr. and Iola Mae Smith Bovender. He retired from R.J. Reynolds after 30 years. His passion was a master craftsman, building many beautiful pieces of furniture for his family. He was also an avid golfer. After retirement, he loved refurbishing lamps, woodworking, and spending quality time with his family. His sisters, Kathie Sebastian and Joan Vreeland also preceded him in death.
Surviving is his loving wife Angie Stacy Bovender whom he was married to for 54 wonderful years. His children, Joseph Ross (Joey) Bovender III, and his girlfriend Angela C. of Clemmons and Christie Martin (Forrest) of Walburg. Six Grandchildren: Hunter Martin (Whitley), Tanner Martin (Haley), Alex Bovender, Josh Bovender, Anna Bovender, and Madison Chandler. Four Great Grandchildren: Raelyn, Kase, Sage, and Brayden. Mother-in-law, Clara Farrell, sister-in-law, Jan Stacy, and niece Danielle Russ.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Kidney or Diabetes Foundation.
