Joseph Edmond Essick

April 7, 1920 — November 12, 2019

Joseph (J.E.; Joe; Mr. Joe; “Bub”; “Uncle Bub”) Edmond Essick, 99, of Lexington, died Tuesday, November 12, 2019, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, at Friendship United Methodist Church, where he was a lifelong member, with Reverend David Peeler conducting services. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Following the service, the family will receive friends in the fellowship hall.

Mr. Essick was born on April 7, 1920, in Davidson County to Norman and Gertha Essick. Joseph was retired from Western Electric and lived a wonderfully long life that was fully enjoyed. He was known for his generosity, helpfulness, and kindness. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Edna Marie Hartman Essick, a daughter Martha Marie Essick Dance, a son-in-law Eddie Dance, a brother Gene Essick, and his special friend of 21 years, Jewel Dorsett.

Surviving is his son Kent Essick, of Lexington.
