Joseph "Joe" Obediah Waitman

Joseph “Joe” Obediah Waitman, age 94 of Tussey Road, Lexington passed away Wednesday morning (April 1, 2015) at Hinkle Hospice House. There will be no public funeral service, however the family will have a private committal service at Shiloh United Methodist Cemetery with military honors by Davidson County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at the home of his son, Eddie and Brenda Waitman, 1786 Tussey Road from 4:00 until 8:00 pm Friday evening (April 3, 2015) Joe was born in Davidson County March 11, 1921 to Welborn Edgar and Catherine Tussey Waitman. He was a retired employee of Burlington Furniture; a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church and a veteran of the US Army having served during World War II. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 73 years, Lila Winecoff Waitman May 18, 2014; his twin sister, Julia Smith and brothers, Frank and Raeford Waitman. Surviving are his sons, Eddie Waitman (Brenda) and Chip Waitman (Amy) all of Lexington and Bruce Waitman (Olga) of Canton, GA; 9 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
