Joseph Allen Masters

December 31, 1931 — May 6, 2017

Joseph Allen Masters, age 85 of Riverside Drive Lexington passed away Saturday morning, May 6, 2017 at Hinkle Hospice House. A celebration of life service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, May 11, 2017 at Macedonia United Methodist Church where he was a member with Rev. Tammy Talbert officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home from 2:00 until 4 PM and 6:00 until 8:00 PM Wednesday. Joseph was born in Marion County, West Virginia to Oscar “Ben” Gail Masters and Gladys Pearl Hibbs Masters. He was a retired truck driver for Hayden Chemical Company; a veteran of US Army serving in the Korean War and a member of American Legion Post 8. He had served on the Board of Directors of Southmont Fire Department; he enjoyed skydiving, riding his motorcycle, listening to Blue Grass and Country Music. He spent many Saturdays enjoying the fellowship of other veterans at Richards Coffee Shop in Mooresville. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Richard, Dean and Danny Masters. Surviving are his wife, Patricia “Pat” Masters of the home; daughter, Lois Adametz of Shinnston, W.VA; sons, Joe Masters of Loveland, CO and Jeffrey Masters of Toms River, NJ; 13 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; 4 nephews and 1 niece. Memorials may be made to Welcome Home Veterans Coffee Shop, 165 North Main Street, Mooresville, NC  28115 or Macedonia United Methodist Church, PO Box 190, Southmont, NC  27351.
