Joseph "Ron" Ronald Smith

Joseph Ronald “Ron” Smith, 87, of Arbor Drive, died Tuesday, December 27, 2016, at Hinkle Hospice House.  The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday, December 29, 2016, at Davidson Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service from 1 to 2 p.m.  Mr. Smith was born April 10, 1929, in Davidson County, to Joseph Clarence Smith and Bertha Lee Smith Walsingham. He was retired from AT&T and had served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Smith was a member of VFW Post 3074 and American Legion Post 8. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by son, Dennis Ronald Smith; and daughter, Linda Gayle Davis.  Surviving are his loving wife, Nancy Geraldine Snellings Smith, of the home; and half-brother, Gary Walsingham of Texas; and daughter-in-law, Debra Smith of St. John, Indiana.  Memorials may be made to Hinkle Hospice House, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292.
