Joseph Edward Simmons

Joseph Edward Simmons, 72, of Lexington, passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at Accordius Health.

A funeral service will be held 2 pm Saturday at Davidson Funeral Home with Pastor Avery Varnadore officiating. Burial will follow at Sandy Creek Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mr. Simmons was born April 15, 1950, in Caldwell County, to Von Hamilton Simmons and Noah Mae Hall Simmons. He was of the Baptist faith. During his free time, Joseph enjoyed working on cars and was known to his friends and family as a Chevy man. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill Ray Simmons, and George Hamilton Simmons.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Wanda Sue Swicegood Simmons of the home; one son, Christopher Simmons (Angela) of Lexington; one brother, Jim Simmons (Linda) of Granite Falls; and one sister, Sheryl Broyhill (Gary) of Lenoir.
