Joseph Carroll Westbrook, 69, of Pulaski Giles Turnpike, Pearisburg, Va., died Thursday, July 21, 2011, at the home of his sister on Palmer Road.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday, July 23, 2011, at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jeff York officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 22, 2011, at the funeral home and other times at the home of his sister on Palmer Road.
Mr. Westbrook was born June 26, 1942, in South Boston, Va., to Joseph Hugh Westbrook and Elsie Thomas Westbrook. He spent his younger years in Lexington, NC, attending Lexington Senior High School. In 1964 he married the love of his life, Linda Tysinger Westbrook, and later moved to Pearisburg, Va., where they raised their family. Mr. Westbrook was an employee of Commonwealth Bolt Inc., of Richcreek, Va. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Linda; brother, Merle Larry Westbrook; and sister, Stacy Eugenia James.
Surviving are sons, Jeffrey Glade Westbrook and wife, Delsie, of Richcreek, Va., Randall Scott Westbrook and wife, Teresa, and Jody Shane Westbrook and wife, Candis, all of Pearsburg, Va.; daughters, Sherry W. Jones and husband, Sam, of Narrows, Va.; grandchildren, Hannah, Falon, Savannah, Christina, J.W. and Michael Westbrook; brothers, Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Westbrook of Lexington and Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Westbrook of Denton; and sisters, Ms. Rose W. Powell, Ms. Heides Jones, Mrs. Myrtle Carwile, Mrs. Wilma W. Michael, Mrs. Margeret W. Morrow, and Mrs. Elizabeth W. Gaines, all of Lexington.
