Josephine Bates

Eva Eliza Josephine Bates 76 of Welcome Bethesda Road passed away Sunday January 10, 2010 at Abbotts Creek Nursing Center. A Funeral Service will be 3:00 pm Wednesday at Union Grove Baptist Church conducted by Pastor Ken Harris. Burial will follow at Reedy Creek Church of Christ Cemetery. Ms. Bates was born March 24, 1933 in Davidson County to John Adam Bates and Helen Eliza Hoffman Bates. She attended Bethesda United Methodist Church and retired from Stanley Furniture. She was preceded in death by sisters Mary Bates, Mae Smith and Peggy Hartman Surviving is her loving and faithful companion of 47 years Willard (Shorty) Latham of the home; one brother, Roy Franklin Bates of Lexington; three sisters, Rosa Younts and Vicky Mann and husband, Bryce, of Lexington and Brenda Fay Bates of Olin, NC; nieces, Dianna, Wendy and Heather, Rita Hinshaw and Wanda Duncan; and nephews, Michael, Joe and John. The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home Lexington Chapel Tuesday from 6-8 pm and at other times at the home of her sister Rosa, Reedy Creek Road, Lexington.
