Joshua Meuser

A part of our hearts is gone with the passing of our loved partner, father, grandfather, brother, son, nephew and uncle. Joshua Ernst Meuser was born on May 13, 1975, along with his twin brother Jason in Providence, RI.

Josh moved to Swanton, Vermont during grade school and stayed through his years at Castleton College. It was during this time that his son Oliver Ross Maxfield was born. After leaving Castleton, he followed his brother Eric to Florida where he would meet the love of his life Cheri White.

Together Josh and Cheri moved back to Vermont to be closer to Oliver. They would stay in Vermont through Oliver's school years but eventually they settled in North Carolina in a house they bought across the street from Jason and his family.  Eric and family visited often and no brothers had a closer bond. The Meuser boys.

Throughout his life Josh enjoyed fishing and playing video games. He and Cheri loved kayaking as well.

He decided to take an early retirement several years ago so he could spend more time with his father who had recently moved to the area. This time with his father brought him a lot of joy. He also enjoyed spending time with his nephew Jake and neice Abby. He returned to work at Ben E Keith several years ago, happy to find a job he enjoyed.

Josh was a true animal lover and adored his pets. For a time his cat Doobie was the light of his life, and in more recent years his dog Luke.  His life and daily activities were centered around what was best for Luke.

Josh was the family comedian, portraying the grumpy old man on a daily basis. But he did so in a hysterical way that kept us all laughing. Christmas 2022 he showed up in full Grinch suit, it was perfect.  His thriftiness and Star Wars collection were also the subject of much family laughter. He was also a great cook and it has been said his stuffing was the best.

Josh was proceeded in death by his father Ernest Meuser in 2021. He is survived by his mother Judy Spell (Ken) Lake Placid, FL; the love of his life, Cheri White Lexington, NC; his son Oliver Maxfield Burlington, VT and granddaughter Madison; his twin and best friend Jason Meuser and former wife Jen and their children Jake and Abby, Lexington, NC; his brother Eric Meuser (Shawnia) and their children, Julia, Emily, Zachary, and Caroline, Spring Hill, FL; sister Heather Kelly (Tim) and their children Nicholas, all St. Albans and Hanah (Eric) Denver; brother Jonathan Chicoine East Bend, NC and his daughter Nichole (Brynjar) Torvikbukt, Norway; sister Angela Flanagan (Norman) Canaan, VT and children Megan (Michael) Pittsburg, NH and Joe Flanagan, Charleston, SC; sister Nicole Hansen,  Michigan; sister Brett Myers, Brownsville, VT; his special Aunt, Carol Meuser, Warwick, RI and lifelong friend, Jason Bushey, Burlington, VT.

A celebration of life will be held on February 17th from 11 - 2. With a eulogy at 1pm.
