Joyce Hendrix Barney, 66, of Holiday Drive, died Thursday, March 18, 2010, at Forsyth Medical Center, following three years of declining health.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, with the Revs. Doug McGee and Robert Garrett officiating. Burial will follow in Fork Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Arrington Heights Free Will Baptist Church Fellowship Hall; 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home and other times at the home.
Mrs. Barney was born April 3, 1943, in Davie County, to Eddie Nathaniel Hendrix and Annie Sidden Hendrix. She was a spinner instructor at Parkdale Mills and a member of Fork Baptist Church, Mocksville. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Mary Frances Hendrix.
Surviving are her husband, Jimmy Alfred Barney of the home; daughter, Wendy Langley and husband, Jeff, of Lexington; grandchildren, Jachin Langley and Jade Langley; brothers, Robert Hendrix and wife, Lib, and Vance Hendrix and wife, Maxine, all of Advance; and sisters, Lucy Carter and husband, J.B., Sarah Smith and husband, Robert, all of Lexington, Evelyn Fishel of Clemmons, Vernie Hendrix, Annie Ruth Everhart and husband, R.C., all of Advance, and Edith Long and husband, Wilburn, of Statesville.
