Joyce Myers Wyatt 92 of Alston Brook, formerly of Markwood Lane, passed away Sunday, January 10, 2010 at Hinkle Hospice Home. Funeral service will be 2:00 pm Wednesday (January 13, 2010) in the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Darrell Cartrette and Rev. Doug McGee officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Wyatt was born in Wilkes County, December 9, 1917 to Charlie Rufus Myers and Effie Sparks Myers. She was a retired employee of Erlanger Mills, now Parkdale Mills after 58 years of service. She was a member of Mt. Carmel Free Will Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 63 years Homer Wyatt who died in 1995, a son Herman Wyatt and son in law, Clyde Waisner. Surviving are; two daughters, Evelyn (Sissy) Waisner of Lexington and Marcella Gillespie of Linwood; one son, Gurney Wyatt and wife Wanda of Lexington; eight grandchildren, Roger Waisner, Keith Waisner, Lee Wyatt, Sharon Singleton, Jimmy Taylor, LeAnn Hunt, Michael Taylor and Jeff Wyatt; twelve great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren; one sister Ovelene Sain and husband Lester of Lexington; one brother, Spencer Myers of Grand Blanc, Michigan. The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home, Tuesday night from 6:00 until 8:00 pm and at other times at the home of daughter, Evelyn Waisner, 107 Markwood Lane, Lexington.
