Mrs. Juanita Meachum Black, 91, formerly of Pinetop Road, died Thursday, December 04, at Mountain Vista Health Park after declining health.
A funeral service will be held at 11:30 am Monday, December 8 in the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel, with Sister Emma Milam officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 to 11:30 am Monday prior to the funeral service.
Mrs. Black was born June 25, 1923 in Davidson County to Oscar Meachum and Minnie Campbell Meachum. She retired from Lank of Lexington and was of the Baptist faith. Her husband, Ray Thomas Black, preceded her in death, as well as her brothers, Ed Meachum, David Lee Meachum, JC Meachum, Buck Meachum, and Charlie Meachum; and her sisters, Pauline Meachum, Nadine Wilson, and Naomi Lookabill; and her son-in-law, Allen Tyree.
She is survived by her son, Charles Black (Ellen) of Salisbury; her daughters, Sherry Tyree and Revonda Hedrick (Marty), both of Lexington; her brother Joseph Meachum (Helen) of Greensboro; and her sister, Maxine Burkhart (Clayburn); her grandchildren, Julie Black, Adam Black, Charlee Black, Chad Tyree, Keith Tyree, Martin Hedrick, and Rhonda Kay Tate; her great-grandchildren, Tyler Ray Tyree, Madison Tate, Korbin Tate, Haley Hedrick and Ryker Black; and her special relative, Harriette Tussey.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.
