Juanita Francis Taylor Purvis, age 91, of Pheasant Dr., Lexington, died Saturday, June 18, 2011 in Hinkle Hospice House.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday in Davidson Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. David Robinson and Gavin Pratt officiating. Burial will follow in Lexington City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Tuesday at the funeral home and other times at the home.
Mrs. Purvis was born June 22, 1919 in Lee County to John Thomas Taylor and Ada Peele Taylor.
She was a retired Nursing Assistant with Lexington Memorial Hospital and a member of Madison Heights Freewill Baptist Church. Juanita was a veteran of the US Navy. Her husband, Hollie Purvis, preceded her in death, as well as a son, Ronnie Carpenter, three brothers, Howard Taylor, Richard Taylor, Grayson Taylor and a sister, Nancy Stewart.
Surviving are three sons, Richard Purvis and wife, Linda, Tony Purvis and wife, Pam, both of Lexington, and Donnie Purvis and wife, Nolia of Linwood; a daughter, Linda Purvis Beasley and husband, Jerry, of Lexington; 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild; two brothers, Elmer Taylor and wife, Peggy, of Reidsville, and Everette Taylor and wife, Sarah, of Pinehurst, NC; and two sisters, Norman Dooley and husband, Carl, and Lillian Thames, both of Raeford, NC
