Judith Morris Koontz, 65, of West Center Street Extension, died Thursday, July 6, 2006, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.
The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at Paul's Chapel United Church of Christ by the Revs. Dave Ambroso and Don Leonard. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Koontz was born Dec. 15, 1940, in Davidson County to James Willie Morris and Delilah Wilson Morris. She was a teacher for the Davidson County school system, having taught at Southwood Elementary School. She was an avid painter, gardener and decorator. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Kathy Suzanne Koontz; and a sister, Lou Ella Burton.
Surviving are her husband, Palmer Joel Koontz of the home; two daughters, Sandy Nato and her husband, Bill, of Raleigh and Melinda Smith and her husband, Larry, of Clemmons; four grandchildren, Christopher Beau Smith, Joshua Joel Smith and Melissa Erin Smith, all of Clemmons, and Caleb Gianni Nato of Raleigh; and two brothers, James Willie "Chick" Morris Jr. and his wife, Jessie, of The Lakes, Fla., and Charles Danny Morris of Lexington.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the church and other times at the home.
