Judy felt assured that she would have victory over death and that occurred March 6, 2016. She was born October 31, 1947 to William (Bill) Morris and Hazel Frances Jenkins Morris in Lexington, NC. Judy loved growing up in Lexington and appreciated her many friendships. She attended Cecil and Holt School and graduated from Lexington Senior High School, Class of 1966. There were many wonderful memories from her high school days.
Judy attended East Carolina University. There she met her faithful and loving husband Mike Jones, who survives her along with her sweet and trustful daughter Kristin Schollander (Wes), Winston-Salem, and her honest and strong son Will Jones (Honor), Charlottesville, VA. Wes and Honor were thought of as her own. Four sweet blessings of grandbabies survive Judy, Leo and Lillie Schollander and Finnian and Lochlann Jones. Being their “Mimi” brought her great joy and strength.
Love of family came right behind love of God and was such a blessing to Judy. She had wonderful, encouraging parents and the joyful relationships of two surviving sisters, Lu Ann Hagel (Mark), West Jefferson, and Kelly Dare Young (Sandy), Denton. Surviving nieces Laura Shepherd (Philip), Lindsey Hagel, Megan Young and nephew Charlie Young. She is also survived by her uncle John Jenkins (Janice) and cousins Jay Jenkins, Jeff Jenkins, Mike Keller, Greg Keller, Larry Coppley, Jody Gibson, Trey and Brianna Gibson.
Most special, Judy is survived by Ruth and Leon Hedrick. Ruth and Judy were kindred hearts, more than just Aunt and Niece. Uncle Leon took over the father role for the Morris girls when Bill died at an early age.
Judy transferred her membership from Meadowview Presbyterian to Centenary United Methodist Church when she and Mike relocated their family to Winston-Salem to start Management Recruiters of Winston-Salem. They worked together in their business for over 25 years.
If you ask Judy her favorite career was at Centenary UMC where she was Director of Congregational Care and Manager of Glad Tidings Books and Gifts. Her hope was that God’s love and kindness would shine through her in all her relationships.
A Service of Worship in Celebration of Judy’s life will be held on Saturday, March 12th at 1:00pm at Centenary United Methodist Church in Winston-Salem.
Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Winston-Salem Street School, Kate B. Reynolds Hospice, and Glad Tidings Windows Fund.
