Julia Hand Koontz

Julia Alice Hand Koontz, 78, of Simmerson Road in Linwood, passed away Wednesday July 22, 2020 at Rowan Regional Hospital in Salisbury.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm to 1:45  Monday at Madison Heights Freewill Baptist church prior to a private funeral service held in the church sanctuary, with Rev. David Robinson conducting services.

Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park.

Mrs. Koontz was born January 19, 1942 in Rowan County to Herbert Hand and Ruth Naomi Bost Calloway.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Emanuel Gray Koontz; a brother, Billy Hand; a sister, Kay Holdren; and a grandson, Nathan Burns.

Surviving is one son Dennis Hamilton (Tessa) of Mocksville; two daughters, Tammy Hege (Tracy) and Bonita Sink (Mike), both of Linwood; one brother, David Hand (Rita) of Rockwell; one sister Gween Hastings of Statesville; 6 grandchildren, Shaun, Misty (Justin), Brittany, Tiffany (Fielding), Felicia, Justin (Carmen); and 10 great-grandchildren, Ethan, Summer, Kayleigh, Cheyenne, Kendra, Chandler, Henley, Jahaven, Aviaona, and Colton.
