Julia Stoner

July 6, 1942 — January 18, 2022

Julia Haire Stoner, 79, of Lexington, died Tuesday, January 18 at her daughter’s home after declining health.

A memorial service will be held at 2 pm Sunday, January 30 at New Hope Presbyterian Church, by the Revs. Randy Hall and Brian Rummage.

The family will greet friends outside following the service and at their respective homes.

Julia was born July 6, 1942 in Davidson County to Robert Davidson Mellon and Geneva Sharpe Mellon. She retired after more than 50 years as a legal secretary at Stoner, Bowers and Gray. She was a longtime member of Fairmont Presbyterian Church (now New Hope Presbyterian) where she taught Sunday School and served as Treasurer for many years. She was an avid traveler, visiting all fifty states and many countries throughout her life. Her husband, James L. “Jimmy” Haire preceded her in death.

She is survived by her husband, Paul G. “Skip” Stoner, Jr.; her daughters, Susan McCormick (Terry) of Harrisburg and Anna Gobble (Ryan) of Lexington; her sister, Peggy Styers of Lexington; and her grandchildren, Terry “Mac” McCormick, Jr., Jacob Gobble (Brittany) and Harrison Gobble.

In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to the Life Center of Davidson County, 601 W. Center St, Lexington NC 27292.
