Juna Lee Peninger Leonard "June", 75, of Lexington, passed away July 6, 2024, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston Salem.

A celebration of her life will be held at 4:00 pm Sunday, July 14, 2024, at Lighthouse Baptist Church Hwy 8, Lexington, with Revs. Roy Franks and Herman Powell officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church. A dinner will be provided by the church after the service where friends may also visit and bring a covered dish if desired.

Juna was born December 2, 1948, in Davidson County, to Irvin Lindsey Peninger and Adgie Edith Sink Peninger. June was a devoted member of the church and served as the church pianist for many years. She has touched the hearts of many with her singing and playing. She was a retired nurse of over 30 years. Her passion was her faith, church family and especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Juna was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, who will be missed by all. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings, Paul Peninger, Mary Gulledge, and Charlotte Crowson, her husband Kenny Leonard, and her beloved pets Sissie Mae and Biggie.

Left to cherish her memories are her sons, Michael Cope and Nathan Brown of the home; daughters, Charlotte “ Toots” Cope of Thomasville; Gracalee “Topsy” House of Lexington; her grandchildren, Scotty House, Jessica Shaw, Jeremy House, Harley James, and Cora Lewis, 10 great grandchildren and her beloved fur babies.
