Our beloved June Helen Kirby (mom, Nana, June Bug, and friend to many) passed away on January 29, 2024, at the far too early age of 89, surrounded by her loved ones. June was carried gently into Jesus’ arms, her last and heavenly home. We celebrate her overwhelming joy as she now worships God in His glorious presence. June is now reunited with her late husband, Alvin Kirby, son-in-law, Steve Hull, as well as many other loved ones.
June was born August 7th, 1934, to parents William Erich Reinhold and Louise Helen Hanel in Philadelphia, PA. She married Alvin R. Kirby in 1954 and the two were married 61 years. In June’s early years, she wore many hats. She was a mom, a bookkeeper, an avid traveler, and an amazing impromptu host when her husband would call with plans for a last-minute dinner party.
June was recently named resident of the month at the assisted living facility where she resided, Mallard Ridge in Clemmons, NC. In that story, June shared the two most important things in her life are the Lord and her family. Anyone who knew June knew how much she loved spending time with her family. June is survived by her three daughters Sandy Kirby (Will Russell), Donna Hull, and Terry Adams (Tom Adams Jr.); five grandchildren Jennifer Stewart (Roger Stewart), Steven Kirby, Ashley Sheff (Anthony Sheff), April Adams (David Carter), and Tom Adams; four great-grandchildren Sarah, Dylan, Kyla, and Brendan; one great-great-grandchild named after June, June Bug; and many grand-doggies which she adored.
To know June was to love her. She was a lady of God and always seemed to find the good in everyone she met. June had a passion for gardening, cooking, doing puzzles, arts and crafts, and travel. In her downtime, you could find her hanging out in the puzzle room at Mallard Ridge or being a “therapist” for her friends there, which she so often called herself. She was always up for anything, and frequently tired out her family with shopping trips, going to different restaurants, and board games. She had a love for life that was contagious and the incredible loss her family feels is a representation of the great love they all shared with her.
