June Marie Tharp

June Marie Nance Tharp, age 82 of Rogers Road, Lexington passed away Saturday, August 23, 2008 at her home. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday at the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Dana Slack officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park. Mrs. Tharp was born on February 6, 1926 in Davidson County to John McCoy Nance and Ida Walker Nance. She was a secretary and was of the United Church of Christ faith. She was preceded in death by a brother Fred Nance and sisters Valier Dobey and Ernestine Barnhart. She is survived by her husband Warner Butler Tharp of the home; a stepson Ronnie Tharp and wife Janice of High Point; stepdaughters Frances Wood of Archdale, Betty Tyson of Kernersville, Shirley Tate of High Point and Cathy Green and husband Jimmy of Lexington; five step-grandchildren; brother Calvin Nance of Augusta, GA; sisters Doris Ellis and Maureen Alexander both of Lexington. The family will receive friends from 12:00 – 1:00 pm prior to the service on Tuesday. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Davidson County, P.O. Box 1941, Lexington, NC 27293.
