Karen Myers Tysinger, age 57 of West Old Highway 64, Lexington passed away Friday morning at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center in Myrtle Beach. Karen had a battle with cancer since February, but she had a passion to return to the beach and she got her final wish to see the beach on Friday and died shortly afterwards.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 pm Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at Tyro United Methodist Church with Rev. Randy Hall officiating. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall from 1:00 until 2:00 pm prior to the service.
Karen was born in Davidson County, November 4, 1957 to Lamar Myers and Betty Dickens Myers. Karen was a graduate of West Davidson High School, Pembroke University and received her Master’s Degree from Appalachian State University. She was a retired teacher at Churchland Elementary and had taught with Davidson County Schools for 30 years and was employed part time with Lexington Barbecue.
Karen is survived by her husband, Rick Tysinger of the home; her mother, Betty Dickens Myers of Aberdeen; step-daughter, Amber Richardson of Archdale; step-son, James Tysinger of Durham; grandchildren, Taylor, McKayla and Aiden; brother, Terry Myers (Diane) of Vass, NC; brother-in-law, Jim Tysinger (JoLynn) of Lexington; mother-in-law, Alene Tysinger of Lexington; many cousins and extended family.
