Kathleen Lanning Burkhart, 91, of Beck's Church Road, died Monday, July 24, 2006, at Alston Brook Nursing Home.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Beck's United Church of Christ, where she was a member, by the Revs. Mel Palmer and Michael Greer. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Burkhart was born in Davidson County on May 7, 1915, to Thomas Lanning and Mary Lanning Lanning. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Hill Burkhart, on March 8, 2002; four sisters, Marie Tetter, Lessie Tetter, Edith Lanning and Nell Lanning; and four brothers, Kyle Lanning, Harold Lanning, Hugh Lanning and Grady Lanning.
Surviving are her son, Gary Hill Burkhart and his wife, Carole, of Lexington; one daughter, Patra Hinkle and her husband, Vernon, of Welcome; eight grandchildren, Becky Laws and her fiancé, Terry Baker, Christi Eller and her husband, Eddie, Ritchie Hinkle and his wife, Carol, Lori Burkhart and her fiancé, Kevin Degner, Randall Burkhart and his wife, Sandy, Darin Burkhart and his wife, Tammy, Alan Burkhart and his wife, Jenny, and Chad Burkhart and his wife, Geovanna; 16 great-grandchildren, Brent Laws, Aaron Laws, Kendra Eller, Austin Hinkle, Mason Hinkle, Levi Cook, Nicholas Cook, Dustin Cook, Rebekah Cook, Samantha Burkhart, Meredith Burkhart, Lauren Burkhart, Kristina Burkhart, Sarah Burkhart, Jose Rodriquez and James Blackard; one brother, George Lanning of Lexington; and two sisters, Margaret Tetter and her husband, Graham, and Rose Kennedy, both of Lexington.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 Wednesday at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, and other times at the home of the son on Beck's Church Road
