Kathleen Crowell

Kathleen Snider Crowell, 99, died Wednesday morning, Oct. 3, 2012, at Alston Brook Nursing Home after a serious illness of one week. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Paul's Chapel United Church of Christ Cemetery by the Rev. Jimmy Norred. The family will receive friends after the graveside service. Mrs. Crowell was born in Davidson County on June 16, 1913, to James S. Snider and Amanda Kesler Snider. She retired from Erlanger Mills after 30 years of service and was a charter member of Paul's Chapel United Church of Christ. She enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and friends and always had food for anyone who came by. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Robert Lee Crowell; son Wayne Crowell; six brothers; and two sisters. Surviving are daughter Frances Kiger and husband Leroy of Welcome; a very, very, special daughter-in-law, Betty Crowell of Lexington; grandchildren Marla Dilday and husband Stephen and Jamie Clodfelter and husband Anthony; and great-grandchildren Cameron Clodfelter, Cale Clodfelter, Callie Shoaf, Courtney Shoaf and Cate Dilday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Alston Brook Nursing Home, 4748 Old Salisbury Road, Lexington, NC 27295 or Paul's Chapel UCC, 2791 W. Center St. Ext., Lexington, NC 27295.
