Kathleen Hemric Sowers, of Arnold Road, passed away peacefully to be with her Lord on April 14, 2012 at her home surrounded by her family. She had been in declining health for several years.
Kathleen was born January 12, 1924 to Lytle and Stella Hemric. She was preceded in death by her parents and several siblings. She is survived by her daughters, Deborah Sowers and Cathy Sowers Macy, son-in-law Frank Macy, her granddaughter, Kayla Sowers Toliver, her sister, Hazel Chambers of Thomasville, sister-in-law, Margaret Hemric of South Boston, VA and several nieces and nephews.
Kathleen owned and operated Sowers Grocery form many years and later worked at PPG Industries. She enjoyed her gardens and she enjoyed cooking and taking care of her family. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and friend to all that knew her. She was of the Baptist faith.
Funeral service will be held at 4 pm on Wednesday, April 18 at the Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, by Pastor Paul Titus. Entombment will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
