Kathleen Thomason Ward

Kathleen Thomason Ward, age 106 of Brookstone Retirement Center, formerly of Kinston, NC passed away Wednesday morning, December 31, 2008. A Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Friday January 2, 2009 in Davidson Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Ray Howell, 3rd officiating. A Graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, January 05 2009 at Westview Cemetery in Kinston. Kathleen was born in Davidson County, December 17, 1902 to James Henry Thomason and Maggie Spaugh Thomason. She was a graduate of Salem College Class of 1921 and taught school in Kinston for over 45 years. She was a member of Gordon Street Christian Church in Kinston. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband James Waters Ward, Sept. 9, 1989, a brother Spaugh Thomason and two sisters Margaret Thomason and Ann Beachum. Surviving are: one niece, Susan Beachum of Waynesville, NC; two nephews, Richard Thomason of Concord and Jimmy Beachum of Washington State and special friends and caregivers, Jean and Lewis Brown of Lexington. Special thanks to Brookstone for the Love and Care given Mrs. Ward. She had no children but the staff and residents call her “Grandma”. She loved each and everyone of you, also a special thank you to Dr. Terry Arnold and staff for their care. The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home Friday from 10 until 11 am.
