Kathryn "Lucy" Finley

August 30, 1938 — April 21, 2024

Kathryn Lucille “Lucy” Kinter Finley, of Lexington, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 21,2024, surrounded by her family. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:00am on May 11, 2024, at First Presbyterian Church in Lexington officiated by Pastor Jon Martin. We invite all who knew and loved Kathryn to join us as we honor her life and legacy. Following the service, there will be a reception to greet the family, providing an opportunity for remembrance and fellowship. Lucy was born August 30, 1938, in Indiana, PA to Clark Kinter and Wilda Kathryn Martin Kinter. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Robert Ernest Finley; sister Doris Kinter Crahan, brother Robert James Kinter; and son-in-law William Charles Farris. Lucy was a devoted wife, caring mother, and grandmother. One of her greatest joys was doing for others. This included cooking, baking, and sewing for those she loved. She cherished her time as a Teacher’s Assistant at Davis-Townsend Elementary School for close to 30 years. She was a faithful member of First Presbyterian Church in Lexington where she shared her talents serving as a teacher for both children’s Sunday School and Bible School, and by participating in the Women of the Church, Women’s Circle, Prayer Shawl Ministry, Sunday School, and many other activities. Lucy enjoyed life and never met a stranger. Bob and Lucy were fortunate to have the opportunity to travel to and live in various areas throughout their marriage. They collected many treasured friends along the way. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters Mary Beth Finley Farris of Lexington, and Karen Finley Teer (Mike) of Jamestown, and son Brent R Finley of Lexington; grandchildren Mary Kathryn Farris (Tyler), Spencer Teer, and Macy Teer; step-grandchildren Erika Teer Russell (Jered), and Jeremy Teer. She was also blessed by the love of her brother-in-law Don Finley (Saara), and sisters-in-law Barbara Knudson and Louise Kinter. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Lexington and Hospice of Davidson County who cared for Lucy and her family in her final days. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Salvation Army, PO Box 770, Lexington, NC 27293, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, or the donor’s choice.
