Kathryn Parker Frye

Kathryn Parker Frye, age 91, died on Thursday, January 17, 2019, at her home. She was born on November, 5, 1927, in Lexington. She was a graduate of Lexington High School and Meredith College. Kathryn touched many lives as a teacher in Davidson County Schools for 23 years.

As a member of the First Baptist Church, she taught Sunday school and served on various committees. She was also a member of the Lexington Charity League. Kathryn loved her family and enjoyed cooking special family dinners. She was always generous with her time and resources. She enjoyed relaxing by the beach with friends and a book in her hand. Kathryn was a woman with a strong faith in God who lived the life she believed.

She was preceded in death by her husband Austin Frye, her son Ted Frye and her grandson Bradley Powell. She is survived by her daughter Carol Powell Milette and her husband Philip, her grandchildren Brandon Powell and his wife Suzann, Deborah Dorsett, David Powell and Jeremy Powell and her great-grandchildren Charlie Snider, JulieEmma Snider, River Dorsett and Jubilee Dorsett, her sister Jane Swing and her husband Don and nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the Davidson Funeral Home Sunday, January 20th from 3 to 5 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church on Monday, January 21st at 11 a.m. A graveside service will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the charity of your choice.
