LEXINGTON, NC — Kathy Swicegood Kepley, 83, of Lexington, North Carolina, passed awayat her home on Friday, August 14, 2026, surrounded by her family.

Kathy was born on August 5, 1943, to the late Arlie Clifton and Margaret Leonard Swicegood. A lifelong resident of the area, she was a steadfast member of Center Church of Welcome her entire life, dedicated deeply to her church community and her faith. Kathy found immense joy in the simple beauties of life, particularly in gardening, cultivating flowers, and nurturing her family. Kathy devoted over 35 years of her life to running her own in home day care, and contributed to the upbringing of numerous children within the community.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years, Billy Joe Kepley, and her sister, Mardie Swicegood Broadway.

Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Chad Kepley (Flor), Shane Kepley, and Wyatt Kepley (Tracy); her daughter, Lisha Craven (Scott); four cherished grandchildren, Aaron Kepley (Cadie), Garret Kepley, Mycah Kepley, and Hamilton Kepley; and three precious great-grandchildren, Jaxon Kepley, Gracelyn Wood, and Colton Wood.

A funeral service will be held in Kathy’s honor at 2:00PM on Monday, August 17, 2026, at Center Church of Welcome, with Pastor Mitch Wilson officiating. The family will receive friends for forty-five minutes prior to the service, from 1:00 to 1:45PM at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to all of Kathy's dedicated caregivers, and a special thank you to Trellis Hospice care nurse Nancy Sellars for her unwavering and compassionate care.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Kathy's memory to Center Church of Welcome, 186 Center Church Rd, Lexington, NC 27295.
