God called another angel home, Kay Carpenter Byerley, age 75, of Patricia Lane. She passed away peacefully with family by her side. Her strong devotion to her family and strong belief in God supported her in her struggle with cancer. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at Davidson Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Luck officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, November 10. Kay was born in Gaston County. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. C.C. and Helen Carpenter; and brother, John Carpenter. She was a loving sister to Marilyn Berrier Green (Benny), Dianne Carpenter Faulkner, Jimmy Carpenter (Peggy). Kay was married to her best friend and love of her life Dwayne of 58 years. They were blessed with a large, caring family. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to her children, Mark Byerley, Kelly Coppley, Chris Byerley and Michael Byerley (Shannon); her grandchildren, Brandon Perrell (Jessica), Matthew Perrell, Colton Coppley, Ashley Combs and Chloe Byerley; and a great-grandchild, Ella Perrell. Kay was well loved by all who knew her and will be missed by many extended family members and friends. She attended Second Reformed United Church of Christ and was retired from Lowe’s Millwork.
